Django for products needing auth, admin, ORM, templates — anything where Django's batteries save you months. FastAPI for API-only services where async, OpenAPI generation, and Pydantic v2 types matter most.
Can you upgrade an old Django codebase?
Yes — Django 1.x → 4.x → 5.x migrations, Python 2 → 3, removing deprecated APIs. We do incremental upgrades with full test coverage on the path.
HTMX or React frontend?
HTMX for products where the team is small and the UX is form/table-heavy. React frontend (with DRF backend) when the UI is highly interactive (drag-drop, real-time, complex state).
Multi-tenant SaaS — schema or row-level?
Row-level (django-organizations or custom middleware) for most cases — simpler ops, easier reporting. Schema-per-tenant (django-tenants) when isolation requirements are strict (regulated industries, customer-mandated separation).
Async Django?
Use it deliberately. Async views work great for I/O-heavy paths (long-running external API calls, websockets). Mixing async views with sync ORM is a footgun — we plan for it explicitly.
