Multi-tenancy — row-level or schema-per-tenant?
Row-level for most cases — simpler ops, easier reporting, scales further. Schema-per-tenant when isolation is required by regulation or customer contract. We make this decision early because it's expensive to change.
Stripe or alternative billing?
Stripe for almost every SaaS in 2026. Paddle when MoR (merchant of record) is critical for international tax. LemonSqueezy for indie/small teams. Stripe Billing handles 95% of SaaS billing requirements.
How do you handle subscription edge cases?
Proration on plan changes, dunning emails on failed payments, grace periods on cancellation, scheduled plan changes. We test with Stripe's test clock to verify behavior over simulated time.
SSO and enterprise features — when?
Add when 2–3 customers ask. WorkOS for SSO (SAML, OIDC) with minimal lift. Clerk if you're greenfield and want auth + SSO unified.
Audit logs — how detailed?
Every state-changing action (CRUD on data, permission changes, exports) logged with actor, timestamp, before/after state. Append-only. Queryable by customer for self-service or audit response.
SOC 2 — can you help?
We can build the technical controls (access logs, encryption at rest, least-privilege, vendor management). We don't manage the audit itself — pair with Vanta, Drata, or Secureframe for the compliance platform.
